Improve your Vision without Glasses or Contact Lenses

Improve your Vision without Glasses or Contact Lenses – Truth about Glasses & Contacts

Many kids are afraid to wear glasses, even if their eye vision is not 20 / 20. Although the main reason for this is psychological, there can also be valid medical reasons for not using glasses or contact lenses. In fact, according to a trend that was started in the 20th century with the prominent eye physician Bates, it was stated that it is possible to improve your vision without glasses or contact lenses. In fact, according to various studies, not only is it possible to improve your vision without glasses or contact lenses; using these eye aids can even be detrimental to your eye health.

The reason for this stems from the fact that glasses and contact lenses cause your eyes to shift differently and focus with another angle instead of their usual configuration. Although this is helpful in allowing you to see clearly, it also allows your ocular muscles to get lazy and get used to the new configuration. As a result, your eyes will not be able to return to their original healthy configuration. Thus, the great majority of people who use glasses or contact lenses will have their eye prescriptions changed every couple of years and their vision will most likely never improve.

It is possible to improve your vision without glasses or contact lenses by doing some simple eye exercises and by creating more healthy conditions for your eye. For example; changing your diet, creating a less stressful environment for yourself, getting treated for physical disorders that effect your vision (such as Type II Diabetes, High Blood Pressure) can affect your eye health positively.

You will need to base your diet heavily on beta-carotene, which has been found to be extremely beneficial for your vision. In addition, refraining from sodium can also be effective. Moreover, a recent research by the University of New York has shown that intake of too much sodium can also effect your vision adversely. Thus, you will need to change your dieting habits, and do some simple eye exercises in order to improve your vision. Just relying on the glasses or contact lenses is definitely a bad idea and thus by actively pursuing alternative means of treatment, you will be able to improve your vision without having to use glasses or any type of contact lenses.

Improving Vision Without glasses – What Not To Do

Many people don’t understand the importance of their eyes until their eyesight begins to deteriorate. Not being able to see a nice flower of not being able to see your grandchildren clearly can create a lot of emotional disorder. If you don’t take the necessary precautions early in your life, your vision can fail you in your later years. Moreover, if your vision is faulty, using glasses will only alleviate the symptoms and it will not cure the problem.

Improving vision without glasses requires you to use some natural means of treating your eyes. These can include doing special eye exercises, doing meditation for reducing your stress, doing regular exercise for regulating your blood pressure and changing your diet for getting antioxidants that can help to strengthen your eyes.  However, improving vision without glasses also involves making sure of not doing the wrong things.

Here are some tips on what to avoid if you want to keep your vision sharp:

  • Make sure that you don’t subject your eyes to the Sun and to its ultraviolet radiation. This is essential, as sunlight can cause your retina to overheat and become damaged. The UV radiation from the sun can also cause damage over time and constant exposure can cause immediate damage if left untreated.
  • You also have to remember the fact that fluorescent lights and other non-natural sources of light can also wear down your eyes, as the retina is accustomed to normal light from the visual electromagnetic spectrum.
  • Make sure that you don’t keep your eyes focused too much on a single image, as this can cause your eyes to get strained too much. Try to focus on big and black images instead.
  • Living a stressful life should be definitely on top of your not to do list. Stress, anxiety, depression and other emotional disorders effect your vision directly. Hence, when you do not alleviate these problems, the quality of your vision can be affected.
  • Stay away from consuming sodium in your daily diet. Eating an unhealthy diet devoid of nutrients and antioxidants can really be harmful to your eyes.
  • Staying in front of your computer is definitely out. Don’t forget that the radiation given off by your computer can dry your retina and affect your inter-ocular fluids. Always keep your computer screen below your eye level, as this can help to reduce the tension and the dryness in your eyes.
